The stunning and sporty Porsche 718 Spyder is capable enough, but the RS treatment brings 493 horsepower and 331 lb-ft of torque from the 4.0-liter flat-six engine. Performance jumps to a 3.2-second 0-60 mph sprint and a top speed of 191 mph. All this, and it will send hairpieces into the lower atmosphere. Shifting duties come by way of a seven speed dual-clutch PDK transmission, and the front-end design comes straight from the Cayman GT4 RS. The back end has a lower key ducktail spoiler as compared to the Cayman GT4 RS’s big wing. Of course, Porsche’s Spyder has a manual soft top that can be stored in the car. The Spyder RS also has standard Active Suspension Management, mechanical torque-vectoring, and a limited-slip rear differential. The interior gets carbon fiber bucket seats and leather trim, but it’s minimalist in the name of lightness. It weighs almost 60 pound less than the stock Spyder, but buyers can opt for the Weissach package that adds carbon fiber pieces for even more weight reduction. The 718 Spyder RS will go on sale next spring.
