Back in 1974 at the Turin Motor Show, Hyundai showed off a car that was never to see the light of production. Even the Hyundai Pony Coupe concept car died an ignominious death at the jaws of a crusher after plans to build it were killed. Designed by none other than Giorgetto Giugaro, the line of Pony cars died on the vine because of hard financial times. The Pony Coupe you see here was just recreated to celebrate the 50-year anniversary of the first mass-produced car from Korea. Giorgetto and his son Fabrizio actually redid it. The endlessly wedgy car was just revealed in Lake Como, Italy at the Hyundai Reunion followed by a showing at the famous Concorso d’Eleganza Villa d’Este. Word is that this redone concept points to a future sports car from the brand. Bring it.
